Michael Crichton has a good head on his shoulders with regards to environmentalism being a new religion. The Sci-Fi Channel adaptation of “The Andromeda Strain” is completely hippie-environmentalist crap. I’m embarassed to say that I’ve watched it.
However, being the DrunkenTech, I’ve consumed 5 glasses of wine during the course of this showing on A&E.
I’m embarassed to say, though, that it was 5 glasses of chardonnay. Liberal white wine FTL.
The original was soooo much better. I loved the 1971 version. The new one….not so much.
Advances in computer technology aside, the 70s version is still a solid techno-thriller. I enjoy watching the old version. No kooky MoveOn.org messages woven into the plot.
